Transfer Student Registration Options

Transfer New Student Registration Options are for students who have been accepted and are ready to make arrangements to attend Western Illinois University.

There are two ways for transfer students to register for their first semester.

Transfer New Student Registration Programs

Students who have not completed the required English composition course and/or an approved math class at their previous institution are expected to attend a scheduled Transfer New Student Registration Program.

Student at Registration

The program includes placement testing for those who need it, advising, class registration, and orientation. A special family component allows family members to learn about the campus, its academic programs, costs, financial aid, residence hall life, and student support services.

Participation is by appointment only, and enrollment is limited.

Macomb Campus Regular Dates

Students needing placement testing are expected to attend one of the regular programs.

Adviser Registration Option

If you have an Associate's Degree or have completed the required English composition course and/or an approved math course and you do not choose to attend a Transfer New Student Registration Program, you may register directly with your adviser.

After selecting the adviser registration option, your transcripts will be evaluated and a copy of the evaluation will be mailed to you in 10-15 days with instructions for registering individually with your adviser.

English & Math Requirements

Students who have not completed the required English composition course and/or an approved math class at their previous institutions are expected to attend a scheduled program. Your eligibility to register through your adviser will depend upon your major, the number of transfer credits you have, and which courses you are transferring. After you receive your evaluation and registration instructions, you may verify your eligibility with your academic adviser.

Adviser Registration Dates

Students who have completed English composition and at least one math course are eligible for the adviser registration option.

Other Registration Opportunities

Transfer students who plan to attend summer school at Western Illinois University prior to attending classes in the fall may register for both summer and fall at the spring Transfer New Student Registration Program. They may also register at the beginning of summer school in early June.
