Dr. Edward Baker has operated as a physician for Beu Health Center since 2005. He is Board Certified in Family Practice and has provided medical care for residents of the Macomb area for the past 20 years as the Founding Partner of Family Practice Associates in Macomb, IL. Dr Baker has provided education for students as a past Faculty Member of UIC College of Medicine @ Rockford. He has served as the president of the McDonough County Medical Society. He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. Dr Baker has professional interest in the area of cardiovascular medicine and in teaching /mentoring interns and nurse practitioners about general medical issues and wellness. Dr. Baker has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Illinois/Urbana and graduated from the University of Missouri Medical School in 1973. He served his Family Practice Residency from 1973 to 1976 at the University of Illinois Rockford School of Medicine.
Dr. Karkare has been a staff Physician for Beu Health Center since August of 2000. She has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 1999, and had worked locally in private practice from 1998-2000. Dr. Karkare received her medical degree in 1988 from the University of Bombay, India, and completed her residency at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Kent State University. Dr Karkare is currently licensed to practice medicine in the states of Illinois and Ohio. Dr Karkare is a member in good standing of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the McDonough County Medical Society. Dr. Karkare's scholarly research on cellular and molecular biology has been widely published in professional journals. She currently serves as a Medical Advisor to the McDonough District Hospital Outreach Service Diabetes Center, a Physician for the McDonough County TB Sanitarium Board and a Medical Advisor for the Bella Hearst Diabetes Fund at Western Illinois University. She also serves on the CARDIA Project committee and the McDonough/Hancock County Illinois Asthma Community Collaboration Development Initiative. Dr Karkare has professional interests in multiple areas of internal medicine and has been a Keynote speaker on a variety of health issues including those for women and ethnic/minority populations in the campus and community.
New Staff Physician
Dr. Jack McPherson is Board Certified in Family Practice and has worked as the administrative head and active practitioner at Family Practice Associates of Macomb since 1976. Dr. McPherson has been affiliated with McDonough District Hospital, serving as the Chairman of the Obstetrics Department, Pediatrics Department and the Physician Hospital Organization. He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Association, Illinois State Medical Society and McDonough County Medical Society. Dr. McPherson is originally from Zeigler, Illinois and completed a Bachelor's degree at North Central College and his medical degree from the University of Illinois @ Chicago (1973). He completed his Family Practice Residency at the Rockford School of Medicine.
Dr. McPherson has been actively involved in the local community as a Macomb High School team physician and the former Western Illinois University Men's Basketball team physician. He also serves as a long-term member of the Physician Hospital Organization at McDonough District Hospital. He is an active member of medical construction developments in the Western Illinois area. Dr. McPherson has a professional interest in education and wellness with a concentration in sports medicine.
