Looking For an Internship?
- Know what you are looking for. What kind of experience are you hoping to gain? Does your internship have to be in your major or can you look at other possibilities?
- It's all who you know! You've heard it before, but it's true - networking is a great way to get your foot in the door at companies, organizations, and institutes. Make a list of all the people you know that are currently working in a field of interest to you. Contact these people and let them know that you are seeking a specific internship experience. Most importantly, follow-up with your contacts and thank them for their assistance in your search.
- Use the Internet. A massive amount of information is available on-line. Included below is a list of sites that specifically focus on college internships. Search often; new information is added daily.
- Career Fairs are an efficient way to make contacts with a variety of employers at one time. Keep up-to-date regarding the career fairs hosted on campus by going to the Career Services website.
- Please remember that if an internship is required by your program/major, that you check with your department and/or internship coordinator.
