Fitness Services
Fitness services consist of incentive programs, personal training programs, and fitness special events.
Events marked with an asterisk (*) indicate that a Spencer SRC membership is not required.
Incentive Programs
Progressive Classes
- Classes teach basic, beginner workouts at the start of the semester and progress to advanced workouts throughout the six-week period, in the spring and eight-week period in the fall.
- Sign-up begins Monday, August 24 and ends Friday, September11 for fall 2009.
- Register online at the Fitness Registration Page.
Rise and Shine
- Are you a morning person? The first 25 participants to finish the program receive a t-shirt after just 15 early morning workouts!
- Workouts from 5:30-8:00 a.m. at the Spencer SRC count toward your goal.
- Sign-up begins Monday, August 24 and continues all semester.
- Workouts begin counting on Monday, August 24.
- Register online at the Fitness Registration Page.
- All prizes need to be picked up in the Campus Recreation Office by Thursday, December 17 at 4:30 p.m.
Personal Training Programs

Fitness Assessment*
- The purpose of a Fitness Assessment is to let you know where you rank in your age group for overall health and fitness.
- Call 309/298-1228, or stop by the Campus Recreation Office to make an appointment.
- Plan to set aside 30 minutes to an hour for your Assessment.
- Avoid exercise at least 24 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid drinking caffeine the day of your appointment as it raises your heart rate.
- Wear comfortable athletic attire and tennis shoes.
- Meet your trainer in the Oasis area by the Front Desk at the time of your appointment.
- List of possible assessments: three-minute step test, resting heart rate, body fat, height and weight, circumference measurements, push-up test, curl-up test, sit and reach, and bench press.
- Register online for a personal fitness assessment.
Introduction to Cardio and Weight Equipment*
- Call 309/298-1228 or stop by the Campus Recreation Office to schedule a free one-time orientation to the cardio and weight machines at the Spencer SRC or SRC North.
- A Campus Recreation Personal Trainer will help you feel comfortable with the proper set-up and usage of the machines.
- Free weight usage is not included in the Introduction.
- Plan to set aside 30 minutes to an hour for your Introduction.
- Wear comfortable athletic attire and tennis shoes.
- Meet your trainer in the Oasis area by the Front Desk.
- Register online for a personal Introduction
Personal Training*
- Call 309/298-1228 or stop by the Campus Recreation Office to schedule a trainer.
- Four, one-hour sessions for one- or two- person training is available at a cost of $50.00 for one and $75.00 for two.
- Participants are required to fill out a personal health history.
- Wear comfortable workout attire and tennis shoes for your appointments.
- Trainer designs an exercise program especially for you based on your current fitness level, preferences, personal schedule, and fitness goals.
- Personal training sessions are one hour and begin at the scheduled time. Clients must be prompt.
- Clients must pay before the first session for all personal training sessions.

Wednesdays
11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Spencer SRC Colgate Room
- On-site certified massage therapist, Tammy Jo Miller offers soothing massage for $1.00/minute; cash and check only.
- Call the Campus Recreation Office at 309/298-1228, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for an appointment.
- Walk-ins are welcome!
- Spencer SRC membership is not required
