Office Assessments

The assessment process is a conceptual and technical process. The process is a review of all aspects of technology, not just hardware. The purpose is to assist offices with technology management and make sure that the office's needs are being met in relation to technology. The process covers:

desktop hardware
software
information systems
network infrastructure
reported problems

The end result is a document that can assist the office in making decisions about technology both budgetary and operational policy.

Office assessments for 2003-2004 will use the following format.

Discovery Phase - hardware evaluation reviews all hardware and matches them with the type of work performed. This match, with the combination of the minimum machine specifications, is then used to rank the hardware on a scale from 1 to 5.
Information Systems Review - Review of all information systems used by the office.
WEB and Work Order Summary - Summary of all work orders for the last year.
Meeting with staff to review findings

The total evaluated points are then compared to the total possible points giving a score for the office. This score then allows us to compare across functional units and identify hot spots in the Division. In addition, any reported problems have work orders submitted and any identified information system needs are reviewed.
