Recently a user lost access to their keyboard due to making changes to StickyKeys.

Stickykeys is a disability accessibility option in Windows XP. When you strike the shift key 5 times in a row the StickyKeys dialog box comes on screen. This option can also be accessed by going to Start, Control Panel, Accessibility options. Here there are numerous options that have been built in by Microsoft to make computers disability accessible.

Check out the options available here but watch out a simple change here could disable your keyboard.
