Selecting items to copy cut and paste

Cutting a file moves it from one location to another, removing the original. Copy will create a copy of the original.

Tips for selecting files
CTRL+A - will select all files in a Folder.
Using the Mouse and the CTRL key will allow you to select multiple individual files.
Using the Mouse and the Shift key will allow you to select a group of files.

Cut, copy and paste
Using My Computer, find the files that you want to copy or cut.

Here are two ways that you can cut, copy and paste:
1. Select the files you want to copy.
2. Right click on a selected file.
3. Select Copy or Cut from the menu.
4. Go to the location that you want the files in.
5. Right click in the folder you have selected.
6. Select Paste from the menu.


This same procedure could be done by using the shortcut keys instead of right clicking on the selected items (CTRL+C = Copy, CTRL+X = Cut, CTRL+V = Paste).

Another way to move files

1. Open My Computer and select the area where the files you want to move are.
2. Open another My Computer and go to where you want the files to go (2nd Window).
3. Go back to the original folder and select the files you want.
4. Right click and hold on the files you have selected.
5. Drag them to the second window.

Moving files to a floppy disk

1. Find the file you want to move.

2. Select the file or files.

3. Right click and select Send To 3 ½ floppy drive.

Creating a CD (only applies to computers with CD Burners attached)
1. Create a folder on your computer for the files you want to move to a CD.
2. Insert a blank CD or CDRW into the CD-Burner.
3. Select the files in the folder (CTRL+A).
4. Right click on the selected files.
5. Select Send To (cd drive). This will only be there if your computer has a CD Burner installed.
