Q: Is there financial aid for summer school?
A: Yes. However, summer financial aid is primarily limited to loans.

Q: Can I get a Federal Stafford Loan for the Summer term?
A: Yes, if you have remaining eligibility from the previous academic year.

Q: Are Pell Grants available for summer?
A: Yes, if you were Pell eligible during the academic year and were not in school full-time both semesters during the academic year.

Q: Is MAP available?
A:Yes on a very limited basis IF state funding is available.

Q: How many hours must I take in order to receive financial aid?
A: One must take at least six semester hours for most financial aid.

Q: Do these hours need to be taken in the eight week session?
A: No. The summer is viewed as a total academic period. The hours can be taken in any combination-the pre-session, the first four weeks, the eight week session, the second four period, or any combination of the aforementioned.

Q: Do I have to file a new FAFSA for summer?
A: No. The FAFSA for the previous academic year will be used.

Q: Is there an institutional application?
A: Yes. There is a brief, one page application asking about the courses in which you will be enrolled. The form will be available on the Financial Aid Office web page under Forms.

Q: When will the summer application be available?
A: It should be available by March 1.

Q: When are funds available?
A: Most student loan funds will be released to the Billing and Receivables Office by the first day of summer school. If you enroll only in 2nd four-week classes, funds cannot be released to Billing and Receivables until the beginning of the 2nd four-week session.
