Student Employment

For jobs of interest contact the department listed. Departments will initiate payroll authorizations when a student is hired. Job listings for the Fall semester will be posted August 1 (or Monday if August 1 falls on a weekend)

• Regular Student Employment
  Many student employment opportunities are available with university departments. Student employment is a good way to earn money while building a resume for the future. Student employees find that part-time employment can be a nice "mix" with an academic career. Research shows an effective mix between work and school is no more than 12-15 hours for upper class students and no more than 8-10 hours for new students.
• Federal Work-Study
  Federal Work-Study is a federally funded student employment program and Eligibility is determined through the FAFSA. Otherwise, Federal Work-Study positions have the same qualifications and pay rate as regular student employment. Federal Work-Study funds are limited, so file your FAFSA early. Students, who are offered a Federal Work-Study position by a department on campus but did not receive a Federal Work-Study award, may request that the hiring department contact the Student Employment Office and have their name put on a waiting list.
• Graduate Assistantships (GA's)
  GA's are a wonderful way for a graduate student to finance his/her education. GA's are awarded by the department and coordinated by the Graduate Office. These positions normally require up to 20 hours of work per week and provide a monthly stipend and a tuition waiver. More information may be found on the School of Graduate Studies website.
