  • Description: Sigma Tau Delta is the national English honor society. Here, at Western, we are the Phi Delta chapter. Membership is open to all English majors or minors who have completed ENG 180 and 280 and have at least 6 s.h. of other English classes. They must have at least a 3.0 GPA for the English classes they have taken. To join, students need to fill out an application which is available in the English advising office, Simpkins first floor. They can return applications to the English advising office, our faculty advisor, or the current president. They pay 37 with the application to cover the cost of certificates, pins, and honors cords for graduation. As an organization, we promote English-related pasttimes, participate in community events, and organize volunteer opportunities. We have monthly meetings in the Simpkins student lounge.
