WIU Job Listings

First time student employees must complete an I-9 form when hired. The I-9 form requires students to bring with them original employment documents. Most students use either an original unexpired U.S. Passport OR a WIU School I.D. Card AND an original Social Security Card. There is a complete list of all acceptable documents on the last page of the I-9 form.

    Duties: FUNCTION: TO ASSIST THE STAFF NETWORK AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS IN MAINTAINING
    DAILY NETWORK AND SYSTEMS OPERATIONS.

    DUTIES: ASSIST WITH DAILY BASIC NETWORK AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION TASKS. TASKS
    INCLUDE MAINTAIN TEST & RESEARCH NETWORK AND SYSTEMS, MONITORING, TROUBLE
    SHOOTING TECHNICAL ISSUES, ASSIST DEPARTMENT STAFF WITH THEIR TECHNICAL ISSUES,
    ASSIST WITH HARDWARE MAINTENANCE, ASSIST WITH SERVER INVENTORY, ASSIST WITH
    SERVER ROOM MAINTENANCE, AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
    Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE OF UNIX/LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION AND NETWORK ADMINISTRATION. IT IS PREFERRED THE CANDIDATE HAS KNOWLEDGEABLE IN COMPUTER
    HARDWARE, OPEN SOURCE TECHNOLOGIES, AND HAVE ALREADY BEEN USING LINUX ON A HOME
    COMPUTER FOR 1 TO 2 YEARS. IT IS A PLUS IF THE CANDIDATE HAS HAD EXPERIENCE
    INSTALLING AND USING OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES ON LINUX. APPLICANTS MUST
    DEMONSTRATE EXPERIENCE USING LINUX.

    THIS POSITION WILL PROVIDE EXPOSURE TO MANY LEADING TECHNOLOGIES AND TECHNOLOGY
    STRATEGIES. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN POSTED WITH STUDENT EMPLOYMENT UNTIL FILLED.
    BREAK AND SUMMER HOURS ARE OPTIONAL, BUT NO EVENING OR WEEKEND HOURS REQUIRED.

    • CONDUCT EACH TELEPHONE CALL TO THE STANDARDS ESTABLISHED BY THE DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING.
    • MAINTAIN A SATISFACTORY ATTENDANCE RECORD IN ENSURING A FULL CALL CENTER EACH NIGHT.
    • COMPLETE REQUIRED TRAININGS AS DIRECTED. THESE TRAININGS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO ANNUAL ETHICS AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT TRAININGS REQUIRED OF ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES.
    • MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY OF ALUMNI AND DONOR INFORMATION.
