First time student employees must complete an I-9 form when hired. The I-9 form requires students to bring with them original employment documents. Most students use either an original unexpired U.S. Passport OR a WIU School I.D. Card AND an original Social Security Card. There is a complete list of all acceptable documents on the last page of the I-9 form.

    Duties: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. PROGRAM LINUX SYSTEM UTILITIES IN PYTHON,
    2. INSTALL AND CONFIGURE LINUX SERVERS AND LINUX APPLICATIONS,
    3. MONITOR LOGS AND EVENTS,
    4. TROUBLE SHOOT TECHNICAL ISSUES.

    ASSIST WITH:
    5. HARDWARE MAINTENANCE,
    6. SERVER AND PROPERTY INVENTORY,
    7. SERVER ROOM MAINTENANCE,
    8. OTHER DAILY BASIC NETWORK AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION TASKS.
    Qualifications: IT IS REQUIRED THE CANDIDATE:

    1. *** MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE INSTALLING AND USING LINUX ***

    2. KNOWS HOW TO PROGRAM IN PYTHON.

    IT IS PREFERRED THE CANDIDATE:

    3. HAS KNOWLEDGE ON HOW TO MAINTAIN INSTALLED SOFTWARE ON A LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM,
    4. HAS ALREADY BEEN USING LINUX ON A HOME COMPUTER FOR 1 TO 2 YEARS.

    IT IS A PLUS IF THE CANDIDATE HAS KNOWLEDGE OF:
    5. UNIX/LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION AND NETWORK ADMINISTRATION,
    6. COMPUTER HARDWARE,
    7. THE LATEST OPEN SOURCE TECHNOLOGIES.

    THIS POSITION WILL PROVIDE EXPOSURE TO MANY LEADING TECHNOLOGIES AND TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIES. NO MICROSOFT SOFTWARE OR MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEMS ARE USED.
