Q. How do I apply for an apartment?
A. Application forms can be downloaded here. You can also stop by the GFH desk in Seal Hall for an application packet.
Q. Do you have furnished apartments?
A. Yes, a limited number of furnished apartments are available. For your best chance of getting one we suggest you apply for an apartment as soon as possible.
Q. What comes in a furnished apartment?
A. Your living room furniture will include a couch, a chair, and an end or coffee table. Your dining room furniture will be a table and four chairs. Bedroom furniture comes with either two twin extra-long beds or one full bed and one dresser.

Q. What is a Resident Manager?
A. A Resident Manager is a student employee who lives in a GFH building and helps oversee the care of that building. They put in work order requests (when something is wrong with an apartment), conduct checkins and checkouts, put on programs, and other duties related to GFH.
Q. How do I get moved in?
A. First step is to contact the GFH office in Seal Hall at 309-298-3331 to schedule a checkin time. The rest of the checkin process will be explained to you then.
Q. Do I have to carpet my apartment?
A. Unless you are living in University Village, which is already carpeted, we require that you carpet 2/3 of the apartment floor. We do so to cut down on the amount of noise in the apartments. Most residents use area rugs from local retail outlets such as Walmart or K-Mart

A. The following people can live with a registered GFH eligible resident.
Q. Do I pay separately for cable/phone/internet?
A. No, your cable, phone, internet, gas and electric and water is all included in the rent payment.
Q. What are the laundry facilities like?
A. Each Lamoine Village building has two separate laundry rooms. East and University share two laundry rooms, both located in East Village. All laundry rooms are locked; and you can gain access by using your apt key. They are not set up to use flex plan points off your student ID, so they only take quarters.
Q. How often do the buses run?
A. Buses run through or past the villages at least every ten minutes during the day, during the week. For a more detailed bus schedule, visit the GoWest website.
Q. Do I have to/can I purchase a meal plan?
A. You are not required to have a meal plan. But we suggest taking advantage of our wonderful dining facilities, you can also add money to your flex account.
Q. Can I use flex plan points/what is flex plan?
A. Flex plan is a way for students to add money to their student ID cards over the STARS system. This money can be used in the Union at restaurants, convenience stores, and in any residence hall dining center.
Q. Where does my mail get delivered to?
A. Your mail will be delivered to a locked mailbox located near or in your building. You will be given a key and told the location of your mailbox at your check in.
Q. What if I need to leave before my lease is up?
A. There is a lease breakage fee if you need to check out of your apartment before the term of your lease is up. Phone UHDS at 309/298-2461 for details.
Q. How do I renew my apartment?
A. Apartment renewals can be done each spring semester on the STARS system. You can only renew your apartment if you are staying over the summer. If you are going home for the summer and do not want to pay rent for those three, months you must re-apply for a new apartment. We cannot guarantee you an apartment (or the same one) for the following fall. We also cannot store items for residents checking out for the summer
Q. Can I have a roommate?
A. Yes, you can. They must also meet the requirements to live in GFH
Q. Will UHDS arrange for me to have a roommate?
A. No, UHDS does not arrange for roommates for GFH apartments. You are responsible for finding your own roommate.
