There are many employment opportunities for students in GFH, the dining centers, and in many places on campus. In many cases students can find jobs through the Financial Aid Office. Make an inquiry at the Financial Aid Office to see if you qualify for jobs around campus. In addition, check with your Residence Hall Staff and Dining Hall Managers for positions within University Housing and Dining Services.
Graduate & Family Housing Resident Managers are a part of the Apartment communities and serve as resources for the residents of the Village. These manager must be full time students who serve primarily as a resource and mentor for the residents.
As a member of the Graduate and Family Housing staff team, the Resident Manager will strive to create a community that will enhance a student's academic, developmental, and personal lives, and that will support the purposes and goals of University Housing and Dining Services and Western Illinois University. The Manager must understand and relate to the unique needs of married students, single-parent students, married students with children, non-traditional students, and international students. This is a live-in position with a general understanding of 24 hour coverage, but with general daily hours of 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. The Manager reports directly to the Assistant Complex Director and then the Area Coordinator.
This position requires an annual commitment. Applications for this position are typically available during the spring semester.
Seal Hall Staff - The central office of University Housing employees students to handle receptionist responsibilities related to answering phones, filing, responding to walk in student questions, and some computer work. This position requires good customer service skills.
Microfridge Employment - Each summer UHDS employs students to move, clean, and maintain the Microfridge units. This work begins just after the Residence Halls close in May and will continue until the Residence Halls open in August.
