The Transfer Floor is ideal for transfer students to Western Illinois University who are in their first year on campus. Students who reside on this floor should have over 30 credit hours prior to entering Western so students can quickly identify with peers who share in similar transition experiences. This floor is offered a special curriculum to help ease the issues often faced by transfer students and is located in Higgins Hall, an upper division hall on campus. This floor is perfect for students wishing to build upon their accomplishments from another institution and want to continue to be successful at Western.
The International House is a living environment designed to meet the needs of international students. The International House if often a popular choice among non-international students as well. That's because of its flexible living environment. Students that live in the International House are not required to have a meal plan and can cook for themselves in a large kitchen area. The International House in open all year, remaining open during break periods. The international house is a very friendly and receptive community that shows us that learning about other cultures and countries doesn't have to happen in history class, it can happen at home!
The 24-hour quiet floors are have been established to meet the needs of students who are interested in and committed to living in an atmosphere conducive to quiet study. This community is great for students who desire a 24-hour quiet living environment to focus on academics, students who might have commitments outside of the class rooms that require them to work or be at events early, or students who simply enjoy their peace and quiet.
