On this week's program:
Before writing today’s show, Mary Darcy did a Google news search. I put in the name Barbara Boxer. Here’s what she found...
Condi’s War, Barbara Boxer Discovers Family Values, Boxer should apologize to Condi... and articles on Womb Politics. It all stems from a comment Boxer made to Condoleezza Rice at a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. A comment that many say was blown way out of proportion. Mary talks with Salon.com’s Rebecca Traister about the situation. Traister is a writer at Salon and a contributor to Broadsheet, their Blog about women.

From 1992 to 1997, the nation underwent a civil war...the scars of which can still be felt today. Tajikistan borders Afghanistan, so it’s strategically important to the U.S. Some there feel the nation is rebuilding...but in recent years, women there have suffered from violence, trafficking and economic insecurity. 51%’s Roxana Saberi visited Tajikistan and sends this report...

As each year goes by, we change as women. Some of those changes are deeply personal, but others are universal. The type of changes we may not talk about...but most of us understand at a very basic level…the changes that force us to grow up, as we grow old. In our next piece, singer actress Gay Marshall takes us through one young woman’s journey in a song called “My Childhood”, from the Off Broadway hit, “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris”.
